Shabbat Services

Congregation Beth Shalom values Talmud Torah – the active study and application of Torah in all aspects of our lives. On Shabbat, Beth Shalom offers a variety of minyanim to meet the varying needs and preferences of our large, diverse congregation.

We invite you to join our congregation at the service most meaningful and fulfilling to you. Shabbat services are held at our Wornall Campus (unless otherwise specified).

Friday Night Options (Begins at 6 p.m. unless otherwise specified.)

  • Traditional Kabbalat Shabbat/Ma'ariv.  This service typically blends traditional camp/USY tunes with an occasional Carlebach melody.
  • Tefillah 2000.  This contemporary service features musical accompaniment from Yachad, the traveling Tefillah Band, and is aimed at allowing congregants to connect to prayer through music.

Saturday Morning Options

  • Main Sanctuary Service (9:30 a.m.).  Led by Hazzan Menes and Rabbi Tobin and Rabbi Stein, this service follows the standard Sim Shalom liturgy.
  • Library Minyan (9:30 a.m.).   This lay-led service includes a reading of the full Torah portion and a d'var torah given by members of the minyan.
  • Tefillah 2000 (10 a.m.).    This contemporary service features musical accompaniment from Yachad, the traveling Tefillah Band, and is aimed at allowing congregants to connect to prayer through music.
  • Be sure to stay after services on Shabbat morning for our congregational Kiddish luncheon – a time to catch up and schmooze with old friends and welcome newcomers to the congregation.
