Welcome to 7th Grade

7th Grade November Update:

Dear Parents,

Wow, it is amazing that it is already the beginning of November.  Where has the time gone?  As your 7th grader’s teachers we wanted to make sure you were up to date on what we are doing in class on Wednesdays.

We began this year with some teambuilding activities.  We felt that these were crucial for this age group and with the seriousness of our topic.

Our discussions began with the history pre-WWII.  We had an amazing speaker, Lloyd Hellman, who gave us an overview of local people before, during and after the holocaust.  He helped the students learn about what was really happening to the Jews during this time and set the stage for the rest of this year. Then we discussed what discrimination is and did an activity to see what it truly felt like to be discriminated against.   We have also discussed propaganda, and students got to see what being on the other side of the propaganda felt like by creating posters.  Ask your child what he or she drew.

Our current topic is Kristallnacht.  We are planning on doing an activity where we, as Jews, get to put back together the pieces of broken glass.  Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

       Sincerely,

Haylee Hammer  &  Debbie Jones
